Our 5 Favorite Speech and Language Apps: #3 Articulation Station

Our 5 Favorite Speech and Language Apps: #2 – Articulation Station | District Speech & Language Therapy | Speech Therapists in Washington DC

District Speech and Language Therapy is back at it…counting down our top 5 favorite apps for targeting speech and language.

This week: Articulation Station by Little Bee Speech

Articulation Station by Little Bee Speech is an essential app for us when working with clients. Each time we open it up, our kiddos immediately know that it’s time to have some fun with our sounds! It’s no longer daunting to do drill work with this app.

Before being introduced to Articulation Station, we found it difficult to find something that was not only engaging, but also targeted sounds in different ways, all the way up to the story level.

Luckily, Articulation Station is a comprehensive articulation program offering practice at the word, sentence, and story levels in 22 sounds in the English language.

Plus, when you first download the Articulation Station app you receive the entire P sound program to try for free! Additional sound programs can be purchased as needed from the Articulation Station Store within the app.

While working with the Articulation app and your kiddo or client, you can choose from 6 different activities, depending on what level you’re focusing on: Flashcards, Matching, Rotating Sentences, Unique Sentences, and Level 1 and Level 2 Stories.

For example, whenever we’re targeting words and want to mix it up a little, we complete the Matching/Memory game, which kids love!

When targeting phrases and sentences, we like to work with the Rotating Sentences activity, during which we allow kiddos to press the red button each time, allowing them to engage in the app and help pick a new word to insert into the practice sentence.

At the story level, we complete the level most in line with the child’s abilities. As a wonderful bonus, the Articulation Station app also includes comprehension questions at the end of each short story, which we complete with kiddos who also have language weaknesses.

Additionally, Articulation Station also provides target words, phrases, sentences, and stories for blends…./s/, /r/, and /l/ blends!

Finally, one of our favorite features is the ability to make a student profile for each child. That way, each time you work with a kiddo, you’re able to note his or her data and save it directly in their profile on the app!

That’s all for now. Check back next week for #4 in our countdown!
